Volunteer work

For local projects, we are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers. Especially in Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, and Albania, we have various projects where we could use your help. We strive to work with local staff as much as possible, but some tasks are better suited for non-locals. Below are tasks where you could add significant value. Please contact us for more information on how to support us.

Guide/Tour Leader

In many destinations, we aim to further develop winter sports facilities. Skiing and snowboarding are emerging sports in many countries. At our destinations, you can work with locals to establish a better network of tour routes and descents, thus elevating the level of (backcountry) skiing/boarding. Additionally, we need experienced skiers/snowboarders to assist in organizing trips, handling communications with travelers and local partners. In some destinations, having a Western person as a liaison between travelers and local organizations proves beneficial. Experience in avalanche safety is a definite advantage.

Photographer/Videographer

For many destinations, we need content creators for specific weeks. Most destinations lack skilled photographers and videographers who are also proficient in skiing/boarding. We aim to generate more action photos and videos and seek help managing our social media channels. We hope you’ll share your expertise with talented local content creators.

Event Manager

For the Silk Road Freeride competition, we need volunteers to assist in organizing the event. The Silk Road Freeride competition will be part of the Freeride World Tour. We require many hands behind the scenes for venue setup, safety measures, logistics, and participant guidance.

Copywriter

Both Ryce Travel and Silk Road Freeride require extensive content writing for their websites. This is a time-consuming task that demands strong writing skills. Multilingual ability is a plus; besides English, Dutch, French, and Russian are essential languages for us.

Jack-of-all-Trades in Local Guesthouses

Our partner guesthouses in Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, and Albania need handy volunteers. It would be helpful if you could assist with reservations, welcoming guests, and preparing meals. If you can also do maintenance and minor repairs, you’d be an ideal jack-of-all-trades. The greatest need for assistance this winter is at our mountain lodge in Albania.

What Do We Expect?

The goal of volunteering is for you to share your knowledge and time in exchange for room and board. We expect you to be passionate about helping us. We appreciate your willingness to support us. Community building is crucial to us, so we expect you to uphold these values. We assume you are open-minded, flexible, internationally oriented, and internally motivated to help others. We are immensely grateful for your willingness to join us. We understand that donating your time and energy to achieve our goals is a significant sacrifice.

What Can We Offer?

To thank you for your dedication, we provide free room and board. This means you won’t have to pay for accommodation or meals. Airport transfers are included, and you can participate in our excursions and activities free of charge. You will be warmly welcomed and gain access to a large local network of friends, guides, and partners. Depending on the tasks involved, we may offer a stipend or volunteer allowance.

Own Initiative

Do you have an initiative to stimulate tourism in our destinations? We are open to all ideas. For example, we partnered with Footballmaties to start a football school in Karakol, collected tents from the Lowlands festival for a tent camp in Kyrgyzstan, and regularly collect winter clothing. Feel free to contact us with your ideas.
