Ski Adventure Albania and Montenegro – this is one of our most adventurous ski trips. In our favorite corner of Europe, skiing is just a little different from what you’re used to. No Almdudler, Anton aus Tirol, or chewy spaghetti for €20. Instead, get ready for rakija, snowmobiles, new ski resorts, and a remote mountain hut in the most secluded mountain range of the Balkans.
Kolašin is the largest and most versatile ski resort in Montenegro, tucked away in the forested heart of the Bjelasica Mountains. With dense pine forests, crisp mountain air, and stunning views of the surrounding peaks, this is a true winter paradise for adventurous skiers and snowboarders.
The resort is made up of two sections: Kolašin 1450 and the newer Kolašin 1600, which are connected by modern lifts and ski runs. Together, they offer more than 45 kilometers of slopes, suitable for both beginners and advanced riders. The wide pistes wind through the trees and offer breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys.
For those seeking more of a challenge, there are several off-piste opportunities. When snow conditions are good, you can enjoy amazing descents through untouched powder, often without seeing another soul. The relatively quiet environment makes Kolašin an ideal destination for freeriders who appreciate peace, nature, and adventure.
Scattered along the slopes are a number of authentic mountain huts, where you can warm up with a hot tea or indulge in local specialties like stews, grilled meat, or hearty cornbread. These traditional spots add a welcoming and rustic charm that gives the area a unique and memorable atmosphere.
Kolašin is easily accessible from the capital Podgorica (about a 1.5-hour drive) and also serves as a great base for multi-day ski tours or combined trips with other mountain villages in northern Montenegro. Whether you come for the slopes, the off-piste powder, the food, or the serenity, Kolašin offers a complete winter sports experience in an unspoiled setting.
