Skiing in Georgia!
Our 10 years of experience in the Caucasus
Georgia — sitting at the crossroads of Europe and Asia — might not be the first ski destination that comes to mind. But it will surprise you with modern resorts, silent backcountry valleys, epic cat-ski missions and endless freeride terrain. From the high ridges of Gudauri to the forest runs of Bakuriani and the wild mountains of Svaneti — Georgia has it all.
Winter sports in Georgia — Raw, Authentic & Cultural
Skiing in Georgia is nothing like in the Alps. Resorts are smaller and less developed, but that’s exactly the charm. It’s all about big landscapes, untouched powder fields and a culture you won’t find anywhere else in Europe!
The Greater and Lesser Caucasus deliver peaks soaring above 5,000 meters — meaning long descents, exciting routes and a solid snowpack from December to April. Whether you’re cruising the modern slopes of Gudauri, Bakuriani and Mestia, or heading deep into the mountains on a freeride mission — skiing in Georgia equals full-on adventure.
Ski Resorts — From Modern to Magically Remote
Georgia surprises with three completely different mountain playgrounds. Gudauri is the hotspot for altitude and adrenaline: modern lifts, wide slopes, and endless freeride terrain above 3,000 meters. Bakuriani brings a cosy, laid-back vibe with forest runs, gentle terrain, and a welcoming atmosphere — perfect if you like things a little calmer. And then there’s Mestia in Svaneti: ski between ancient Svan towers surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Caucasus. Every descent feels like a connection to local culture. Together, these resorts create a winter experience you won’t find anywhere else in Europe.
Freeride & Ski Touring — Pure Adventure
If you want the real deal, leave the piste behind. In Gudauri’s backcountry, local guides lead you to deep powder, secret couloirs and untouched bowls. Svaneti, near Mestia, is a paradise — massive peaks up to 4,500 meters, wide faces and wild terrain. Prefer solitude? Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park offers peaceful forest tours and quiet valleys with up to 1,500 meters of vertical. And for powder hunters: Goderdzi — a cat-ski destination with endless tree runs, deep snow and evenings full of local food, stories and hospitality.
