An unforgettable ski adventure is waiting for you in the mighty Caucasus mountains of Georgia. Runs passing the Gergeti Monastery, ultra-modern ski lifts and climbing the Goderdzi Pass by Pistenbully. Next to these special activities, you will meet the hospitable Georgian people, explore Bakuriani and relax at hot springs. Add the tasty Georgian food, and local wine, and you will have the perfect ski conditions. In 8 days, we will experience everything that Georgia has to offer.

As always, we work predominantly with local partners and guides. As a non-profit tour agency, we support tourism in developing countries, providing you with an authentic local experience while ensuring that locals earn a decent income. Additionally, we help foster local initiatives to grow (winter) tourism.

Tbilisi

The tour begins on Sunday in Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia. We'll start with a city tour of the old town, visiting the historic Dzveli neighborhood and wandering through the narrow alleys behind the ancient city walls. We'll take the gondola up to the Narikala Fortress for breathtaking views and explore the Botanical Garden. Descending via the countless stairs, we’ll return to the old town.

In the afternoon, we'll embark on a wine bar crawl, sampling some of Georgia's finest wines. We’ll conclude our first day with a delightful dinner at our favorite local restaurant, offering a perfect introduction to Georgian cuisine and hospitality.

Gudauri

Gudauri, the largest ski resort in Georgia, will be our playground for the next two days. Nestled in the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range, Gudauri has seen significant developments in recent years, transforming it into a world-class destination.

The resort features nine modern chair lifts, with the highest reaching 3279 meters. This high elevation offers breathtaking views and a vertical drop of almost 1500 meters, providing a variety of exciting terrain. From challenging off-piste runs and backcountry opportunities for advanced skiers to groomed trails for beginners, Gudauri caters to all skill levels. After full days on the slopes, we’ll unwind at a local pub, enjoying well-deserved drinks and the lively après-ski atmosphere.

Stepantsminda

We will spend the night in a cozy local guesthouse in Stepantsminda, the final stop on the historic Georgian Military Highway. This charming village offers stunning vistas of Mount Kazbegi, which towers at 5,047 meters. Our hosts, a warm and welcoming local family, will prepare delicious traditional Georgian meals for us, showcasing the rich flavors of the region. In the evening, we will likely enjoy a glass (or two) of chacha, the potent local spirit, as we relax and take in the breathtaking mountain scenery. This stay promises a perfect blend of cultural immersion and natural beauty

Sunrise hike Gergeti

After waking up in Stepantsminda, it’s optional to do a sunrise hike with us. We will ascend the Gergety Infinity Chruch at 2200 meters and wait for the sun to rise. After a brief visit to the church, you can ski/board back to the village (depending on the snow conditions). After finishing the second ski day in Gudauri, we can rest a bit in the minivan that brings us to Bakuriani

Gergeti Georgia

Bakuriani

A winding road will lead us to the enchanting mountain village of Bakuarini, one of our favorite skiing spots in Georgia. This wooded haven boasts widely spaced trees on steep slopes, ensuring plenty of untouched snow for thrilling descents. The après-ski scene here is legendary—not for trendy pubs, but for the vibrant, chacha-fueled gatherings that capture the local spirit. After a long day on the slopes, we can enjoy a final freeride run to the historic ski jumps of Bakuarini before heading into the village itself. Bakuarini feels like a giant fairground, with bumper cars, shooting tents, and local liqueurs—perfect ingredients for a delightful evening of fun.

Goderdzi

Early in the morning, we will continue our tour to Goderdzi. The journey from Borjomi will be breathtaking as we cross Borjomi National Park and ascend to the Goderdzi Pass at 2100 meters. Since this road typically closes in winter, we will transfer to a snow cat for the final stretch. The Pistenbully will take us to a mountain lodge just outside the ski resort of Goderdzi, where we’ll stay for the next two days.

Goderdzi ski resort is still developing. There’s a lovely run from the brand-new gondola, but we will primarily use the snow cat to access remote areas of the Adjara region. This forested area, with its abundant powder, benefits from the proximity to the Black Sea, resulting in higher precipitation than other parts of Georgia. The days in Goderdzi will be intense, with winding tree runs and natural, playful terrain that will leave you in awe. During our shared meals, we will have plenty of stories to share, making for a memorable and exciting experience.

Cat Ski Goderdzi

On Saturday, we will ski back to the van. It’s parked somewhere halfway on the Goderdzi pass. Unfortunately, it’s our last run of the week. But fortunately, we are not back home yet. We change our clothes quickly and head to Tbilisi. We will have a tasty dinner in a local restaurant on the road.

Back to Tbilisi

Once we're back in Tbilisi, we'll check into our guesthouse. You can choose to explore the vibrant nightlife of the city, with its bustling bars and clubs. To cap off our week of skiing and adventures, we can toast with a chacha, beer, or local wine. Georgia is an incredible country, offering so much more than just exceptional skiing. We hope you're as enthusiastic about this remarkable place as we are.

  1. Fleur van de Geer:

We had an unforgettable trip to Georgia with Ryce Travel. Enjoyed this active holiday with our friends, the culture of Georgia and the crazy descents. Although conditions were not as we envisioned every day, Peter made quick adjustments to our itinerary and made it a unique holiday.

  2. Roos van de Geer:

Just after the covid madness, we made a trip to Georgia with Peter with a small group. I have often been on winter sports in my life, but this remains the most special. And is therefore not really comparable to your standard winter sports holiday. Georgia is beautiful and one big adventure. I also like how Peter pursues a social goal with Ryce. You come into contact with the locals a lot, which in my opinion makes the trip extra special!

  3. Miquel Eugster:

If you want something different than Schnitzels and jostling Dutch people in Saalbach, Peter is the place to be! We drove through the Caucasus with Peter and his very friendly and competent crew from Georgia for 10 days and it was a great experience from the moment we landed on Tibilisi! So don’t hesitate just book!

  4. Pieter Schreuder:

At the end of February 2023 we went to Georgia with a small group. The trip has met all my expectations. Adventure, culture, of course winter sports and off piste cat ski descents on virgin white snow fields. I can rest here for a while. Although, the next Ryce travel tours are already beckoning 😉
Also thought it was great that despite a group of only four people we could still do the trip. Hopefully many more people will follow our example to visit beautiful Georgia!

  5. Bram Visser:

That’s a bit of the tricky thing about this travel organization: once you have booked a trip and you already know after a few days that it won’t stop at this one trip. After Kyrgyzstan before the Covid, I just got back from beautiful Georgia, one of the most beautiful countries I’ve ever been to, especially in terms of winter sports. I think the best thing about Ryce Travel is that you can see and experience as much as possible in a short time. So really recommended!
