Ski Club
One week in the mountains, every winter. Eight days of skiing and coaching with the same group of young skiers — the rung between the village ski school and the backcountry.
A Week in the Mountains
The village ski school ends around twelve. The club is what keeps them on snow: eight days at a resort with a coach, a bed, three meals and a group of the same age. For most of these children it is the first time they ski every day of a week.
No membership, no fees, no family paying for it.
Why a Club
A ski school teaches the first turns. A club teaches the rest — on longer slopes, with children at the same level, and with a coach who remembers what they did last winter.
Without this rung most children stop after a season or two. The ones who could have become instructors never get that far.
How we support the Journey
THE WEEK
Eight days on snow, six of them coached. Technique in the morning, free skiing together in the afternoon, and one day out with a guide if the snow allows.
COACHING
Ryce guides and local instructors run the sessions together. The older club skiers come back as assistants — for most of them the first paid work in the mountains.
EQUIPMENT
Ski clothing, gloves, goggles and personal equipment. Skis, boots and helmets come from the Gear 4 Guides stock and stay with the club afterwards.
THE COST
Around €300 per child covers the whole week: travel, food, a bed, lessons and rental. We crowdfund it, so no family pays it themselves.
Fund a Week
The camps are planned as a crowdfunding project: about €300 per child, one week, one group per resort. When the first cohort is funded we publish the dates and the group here.
Karakol in Kyrgyzstan, Bakuriani in Georgia and Brezovica in Kosovo are first in line.
Donation
A club week costs around €300 per child. Skis, boots and clothing wear out at that age, and coaches have to travel.
If you have winter gear to donate — skis, boots, helmets, jackets — or would like to sponsor a week, please reach out.
Every euro goes to the week itself.
Volunteer Work
For local projects, we are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers.
Especially in Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, and Albania, we have various projects where we could use your help.
We strive to work with local staff as much as possible, but some tasks are better suited for non-locals.
