Stepantsminda

Stepantsminda is the last village of the Russian Military Highway. The road, bordering the village is 212 kilometers long and has been used for many years by traders and conquerors. The beautiful village has a gigantic view on the mighty Kazbegi mountains (5,047 meters). In Stepantsminda you usually stay in a guesthouse of a local family who can serve you the most delicious local dishes. During the day you can visit the Gergeti Trinity Church, a must-see highlight of the region. Furthermore, you can also go hiking or even go trekking in Stepantsminda. Since the summer of 2018, alpinists, mountain hikers and ski tourers can visit the Altihut, a new mountain hut at an altitude of 3014 meters where you can spend the night in summer and winter. Even higher, at 3675 meters, you will find Betlemi, a small church. About Betlemi, there are several mysterious legends written.

Bakuriani

About 2.5 hours driving from Tbilisi, is Bakuriani situated. The village has developed enormously in recent years due to tourism and fortunately manages to retain its local vibe. Located between the high mountains, it is wonderful to do a 4×4 car tour or go rafting. The driver will be happy to take you to the waterfall located near the village, to the town of Borjomi, known for its hot springs and mineral water or even to the winter sports areas / national parks that are easily accessible with a 4×4 car in summer! Between Borjomi and Bakuriani runs the legendary Borjomi-Kharagauli railway (now an electric train, but a steam train until 1967) and is affectionately called Kukushka (which is a Russian nickname for a steam engine). A nice option is to go with the train back to Bakuriani, coming from the off-road tour or vice versa!

Goderdzi

Goderdzi is a ski resort located in the Adjara region, near the village of Beshumi. It is located in the middle of the three-thousanders, in the Lesser Caucasus and is less than 100 kilometers away from the sandy beaches of the Black Sea. Unfortunately, it still takes you up to 4 hours to get to the golden beaches, driving over all the mountain roads. In winter there is even so much snow in this area that the Goderdzi can only be open again in March at its earliest.

However, the area has a lot to offer in summer. Tourism in the area is booming by the sudden development of the winter sports. Because of this, you can enjoy beautiful views in summer, paragliding and mountain biking. For the real adventurers among us, it is also nice to camp at the green lake in the area. However, if you are less adventurous, there are also plenty of options. You can also choose to go horseback riding or enjoy the hot springs that are filled with mineral water. Ideal for a group tour in Georgia!

Tbilisi

Tbilisi is the main capital of Georgia. Because it is located in a valley, there are plenty of opportunities to admire the city from above. For example, the ruins of the Narikala fortress offer a beautiful view over the city. The city is full of new and old infrastructure, which gives a great contrast between old and new and makes Tbilisi so unique. For example, the Nutsubidze district dominates in Soviet architecture and in Abanotubani, the old town, locals and tourists relax in centuries-old sulfur baths. The sulfur baths are a “must-see” location when you are in Tbilisi. In addition, it is said that the sulfur baths have many health benefits.

If you are looking for more adventure, Tbilisi is also “the place to be”. From urban exploring an abandoned outdoor swimming pool to getting lost in the smallest streets and raving in an abandoned football stadium. It’s possible in Tbilisi! The city is also known for its delicious food and own harvested wines. All in all, plenty of choice for everyone!
