The Dzungarian Mountains, the epitome of unspoiled nature

Above all, pristine nature characterizes the Dzungarian Mountains. There are almost no roads and habitation is almost non-existent. In fact, some parts are so remote and inhospitable that they can only be reached on horseback or by helicopter. The mountain range extends into China over a length of up to 450 kilometers. With peaks topping 4400 meters covered in perpetual snow and glacial ice, the mountain range makes a stately impression. The many beautiful glacial lakes with their deep blue hues give the mountains something fairytale-like. There would be more than 200 glacial lakes to see in the Dzungarian Mountains.

In some places you can see drawings on the rocks, ritual buildings and burial mounds. These have been present since ancient times and are an important part of the mountain range’s history.

Dzungarian: mountains of inspiration

When you venture into the Dzungarian Mountains, you will find that you are quickly inspired by its beauty. The fresh and pure mountain air very soon prompted the original inhabitants to build sanatoriums and hospitals in the meadow surroundings of the mountains. The mountains themselves are home to animals such as sheep, gazelles and mountain goats.

A freeride wahalla!

For several years now, winter sports enthusiasts have discovered the area. The reasonable proximity to Almaty ensures that especially freeriders come here. The snow is sure and the runs are pristine.
