We offer you five days of skiing/snowboarding in the most beautiful ski resorts of Georgia: the popular Gudauri, Pearl in the High Caucasus, and the authentic Bakuriani, in the center of the country. Seasoned skier looking for new challenges or a novice pizza punter? Don't worry, the Ski Safari is for every type of winter sports enthusiast. Because we understand that you also want to enjoy the culture and beauty of the country during your trip, we make time for a day of sightseeing in Tbilisi and take you to Mtshketa, Gori, and Gergeti. Taste the tasteful Georgian cuisine and be charmed by the hospitable Georgians. All this is under the guidance of an ONLINE local guide. He/she will communicate with you via a WhatsApp group. The guide is always available for questions, but also for advice on restaurants, slopes, and sights. On the first day, it is possible to book a guide in Tbilisi. As always we are predominantly working with local partners and local guides. As a non-profit tour agency, we are supporting tourism in developing countries. That means that you will have a local experience and that locals have a decent income. Moreover we help foster local initiatives to grow (winter)tourism.

Tbilisi

On Saturday afternoon you usually depart from Europe/Middle East. We will pick you up from Tbilisi International Airport and transfer you to the Urban Boutique Hotel in the center of the city. You can recover from the flight. The next day you will discover the dazzling capital Tbilisi on your own. We recommend walking to the old city center via Rustaveli Avenue (the Champs Élysées of Tbilisi). Here you can wander through the small streets and visit the Narikala fortress by gondola. From there you descend to the birthplace of the city. The hot springs. Tbilisi literally means 'warm place' and you now understand why. Be sure to cross the Kura River as well. There you will find the hippest places in the city. Of course, a small wine tasting should not be missed.

Gudauri

After a tasty breakfast, you will be picked up on Monday morning for your transfer to Gudauri. Gudauri is Georgia's largest and most popular ski resort. We provide three days of skiing/boarding in Gudauri so you will certainly enjoy yourself. Gudauri has evolved enormously in recent years, nowadays there are already 4 gondolas and 9 chair lifts. The highest point is at 3279 meters and the descents go down till 2200 meters. Here you ski with a view of the majestic peaks of the High Caucasus. At the end of the day on Tuesday we descend by gondola towards Kobi. A 4x4 is waiting for you here. It takes you to the Gergeti monastery at 2200 meters. The monastery is located at the foot of the mighty five-thousander Kazbeg (5047 m). The views are truly fantastic. For dinner, we recommend eating in the village of Stepantsminda.  After dinner, the 4x4 will take you back to the hotel in Gudauri. On Wednesday you ski for the last time in Gudauri. After a good night's sleep, we leave for a day of sightseeing. First, we stop at Jvari Monastery, just before Mtskheta. From here you can see the Kura and Aragvi rivers converging. The colors of the water vary enormously. Then we will visit the former capital of Tbilisi, Mtskheta. The most special is the Svetischoveli Cathedral. A beautiful building in the middle of the city. You have some time to walk around and then we continue our way to Gori. Gori is a fascinating place: known as the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, the town has an intriguing museum dedicated to the former Soviet leader. Of course, we'll take a look. After lunch we drive to Uplistsikhe. A complex of ancient rock dwellings. We get a tour and see how the Georgians had to fight to defend their country. In the afternoon we cover the last kilometers to the second ski area of Georgia: Bakuriani.

Bakuriani

Bakuriani hosts the most attractive ski resort in Georgia. Here you will find wonderful descents between widespread trees. The town has undergone a true metamorphosis. The Soviet image has (almost) been shaken off, the ski jumps have been refurbished and the lifts modernized. Bakuriani is a fantastic place with a lot of authenticity. After skiing you can get a drink in the village. There is an après ski yurt and somehow we always end up in the adjacent bumper cars On Saturday we ski in the Didveli part of Bakuriani. This is an upper ski area 20 minutes drive from the village. The descents are long and well prepared. After a long day skiing, we can change clothes in the hotel. Then, unfortunately, the return journey to Tbilisi begins. On the way, we stop at a local restaurant for a well-deserved dinner. Late in the evening, we will arrive back in Tbilisi. We check in again at the Urban Boutique Hotel. The next day we arrange a transfer to the airport of Tbilisi.

Flight tickets

There is a guaranteed departure for this trip. The trip is always happening, regardless of the number of participants. The tickets can therefore be booked. Let us know in time which flights you have chosen. We can adjust the pick-up/drop-off accordingly. We recommend booking with Turkish Airlines. You can usually take ski equipment with them for free. Prices are normally between €150 and €400 for a return ticket to Tbilisi.
